The Centre has recently introduced significant modifications to the curriculum for CBSE schools, aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP).
The New Curriculum Framework (NCF) outlines several crucial points:
1. Board exams will now take place twice a year, allowing students to retain their best score from these assessments.

2. The focus of these board exams will shift towards evaluating comprehension and competency, moving away from excessive coaching and rote memorization.

3. Students in classes 11 and 12 will be required to study two languages, with at least one of them being an Indian language.

4. NEP mandates the creation of new textbooks, set to be introduced in the academic year 2024.

5. The conventional practice of superficially covering textbook content in classrooms will be replaced, aiming to optimize the cost of textbooks.

6. A significant change will occur in classes 11 and 12, where students will have the flexibility to select subjects, transcending traditional 'streams' like Arts, Science, and Commerce.

The overarching goal of NCF is to revolutionize the Indian education system by reshaping classroom teaching methods and fostering creativity among students. Beyond combatting rote learning, this framework encourages educational institutions to establish the infrastructure necessary for offering a diverse range of courses.
